Past Perfect Simple

The Past Perfect Tense in English
Introduction
The Past Perfect Tense is used to describe actions or events that were completed before another point or action in the past. It gives us a way to express a sequence of past events clearly, emphasizing which action happened first.
1. Definition
The Past Perfect tense indicates that an action was completed before another time or event in the past. It often helps clarify the order of past actions.
Example:
• By the time I arrived, he had already left. (He left before I arrived.)
